A design system built with agents, for agents

Design intent becomes a contract. Every experiment makes it stronger.

ArticleBody text colour in Dark modeA dark grey can pass WCAG, even at AAA, and still read too dim. My article body now reads one step under its headings: lightness 85 in Dark at APCA Lc 75.7, and 40 in Light at Lc 91.3.AccessibilityColourDesign engineering
ArticleTabs that look like togglesMy Sidebar tabs read as one more toggle. An agent and I designed an underline tab, removed it 12 minutes later, and shipped the Tabs default Orbition already had: four releases in 48 minutes.Design systemsDesign engineering
ArticleA design system built with agents, for agentsI rebuilt my design system with AI agents in six months, as one folder of tokens, rules, recipes and contracts that agents can read and follow. For two years the next version of my design system sat in my backlog. This article covers why I moved the energy from Figma to an agent system, what an agent reads, nine things I rebuilt with agents, and five projects that run on it.Design systemsDesign engineeringAgent experience
ArticlePrivacy before image creationOne privacy boundary, drawn once by one founding designer with different AI agents for different jobs, then carried through a cipher logo, a website nominated on Awwwards, a film of 81 seconds and an operator app of six states.Product designUX designAI workflow
NoteWomen Who Code(X) With CodexEarlier this week I joined OpenAI's Women Who Code(X) meetup on a warm winter evening in Sydney. 💖 I was lucky to hear from Rowena Westphalen GAICD, @May Kyaw, Nilram A., Regina Lin all women at OpenAI about their career journeys, experiences with Codex and generative AI, and their perspectives on the future of AI. 💎 A few takeaways from the panel: • AI is constantly evolving, so continuous learning is essential. • Generative AI is still a new field, we don’t need to know everything from the start. • The next challenge is turning people’s ideas and visions into real outcomes. 🚀 Our challenge: build a website using Codex Sites. I leaned into the topics women typically carry the load on family-care scheduling, meditation, skill swaps, organic meal solutions, and more. The real highlight was the hand-off. I've been putting off a landing page for nanaOS design system rebuild for months, so iWomenWhoCodeCodexbuiltwithCodexNoteLife Without a 5-Hour LimitTibo said Codex will return to the 5-hour limit. Before it comes back, here’s what I loved about having no 5-hour limit: • Staying focused on long, complex work without watching the clock • Using tokens when I actually needed them, not on someone else’s reset schedule • Working with less anxiety about being cut off mid-flow I’m genuinely curious what they tested and what the data showed—there must be a reason behind this. But from a user’s perspective, working without a 5-hour limit meant calmer, freer, more productive work. If you want Codex to stay free of a 5-hour limit, share this post or tell Tibo Thibault Sottiaux how the limit affects your work. I hope they keep listening to the people who build with it. Happy building 💖 OpenAI #CodexCodexNoteCodex Tokens Reset AgainCodex tokens just reset again. 💘 Time to turn on FAST MODE!!! 🚀 I hope we get to an unlimited-token era soon, like the internet. OpenAI #builder #hackathon #CodexbuilderhackathonCodexNoteBuilding at Codex Hackathon SydneyYesterday I spent 10hours at the Codex Hackathon Sydney. 100 builders. Every age, background, role, building something they actually needed. It made me think about how much the process has shifted. The old way: imagine a user → build a persona → test assumptions. (Because building used to be expensive.) The new way: Look at problems inside your own field → build → share → improve. You already understand the problem better than anyone. Someone else is probably facing the same thing. Build it. Share it. In 5 hours I went from idea to shipped implementing ‘Agent Composer’ into my design system. 💖 Grateful for every builder I met yesterday — Jane Arandelovic, Alex Taylor, and many more. Thanks to #Codex Hackathon team, Gabriel Chua and UTS Startups team for creating that energy. 🙌 Happy Building 🧙🏻 OpenAI #builder #hackathon #CodexHackathonCodexbuilderhackathonNoteMy First Hackathon Project20,000 applicants 500 participants 288 projects submitted 21M+ lines of code written The scale of the Built with Opus 4.7 Hackathon is incredible. The Project Gallery is now live, it’s full of genuinely inspiring ideas.💡 📺 https://lnkd.in/ggd5BvNg My very first hackathon project is in there: #282 🎟️ Four months ago, I never imagined I’d build this fast. Honestly, this moment feels a bit surreal. Through this hackathon, I finally paid off some long-overdue design debt: • OKLCH color system • Dark theme typography • Refined type scale • Single source of truth • Motion system • All the variants I had envisioned Next challenge: harnessing AI as a true product-building partner 🚀 #BuiltWithClaude #ClaudeCode #DesignSystem Anthropic Claude Cerebral Valley282BuiltWithClaudeClaudeCodeNoteBuilding nanaOS With ClaudeI'm participating in Built with Opus 4.7, a Claude Code hackathon by Anthropic and Cerebral Valley. It's a one-week sprint to build something with Claude Code and Opus 4.7, alongside builders from a range of backgrounds. I'm building nanaOS, an AI-native design system where the system itself becomes the source of truth. Instead of treating design as static screens, nanaOS treats tokens, rules, components, accessibility checks, and implementation contracts as structured information that both humans and AI agents can read. During the hackathon, I worked on turning my design system into something more practical and agent-ready: - Specs: AI-readable contracts - Skills: reusable agent workflows - Rules: accessibility audits - Decisions: ADR-backed context - Components: contract-driven builds - Docs: single source of truth The bigger idea is simple: Design systems are becoming AI-readable contBuiltWithClaudeClaudeCodeDesignSystem
